Wednesday August 1st, 2001:
Today, Icedude becomes a genuine teenager; and he has posted all his most recent maps on his website: that's 1-on-1 Amateur, along with 1-on-1 Sequoia and 1-on-1 Orbital, plus Icedude's Island
and
HyperBlast Remix Update all there to be grabbed!  The tune on his front page has changed as well, though the new one wouldn't work for me just now.
Talking of not working, the Csports statistics for NAB still seem a few days old...
Boom has got some updated material on the "Real Nerf" page - it mentions there that captured players are "executed", so I suggest staying well clear of that game, eek! Your first game could well be your last!
Generally, not a lot seems to be happening; I blame the heatwave.  But do keep up to date with the NAB Forum array, and remember to play some NAB.  This weather, I seem to be playing a lot of Frigate Remix - it's very cooling to dive into the lake and have a swim!
Monday July 30th, 2001:
The virus attack seemed pretty low-key in the end, but stay careful; visit the Symantec site's page on it for the details, and the means to get rid of it if you are infected.  Scroll down the page I've linked to there far enough, and you will find the link you need!
Boom has got his Nerf story, "Vacation" moving along nicely now with part ][ - and check out the weird "Picture of the Week" that BlobBlob provided!
The Star Wars Clan's Flame has added three possible clan logos to the bottom of their front page, and invites votes as to which is the best; I gather he hopes to get into the map remixing business, too, as well as - movie making?  Join the clan, and it's your chance to be the next Tom Cruise!  But, if you play as Todd, slightly better-looking...
Blades is working on his own "NerfArcade" website, but I do not seem to have got the URL right yet.  More details eventually...
SLAM should be starting his training for his summer job at Radio Shack today, so if you are in Florida, drop by and buy something!
Sunday July 29th, 2001:
A virus alert - if you get sent a map, apparently, but the file ending is not .zip but .zip.com, delete it, do not open it.  The text for the message will probably be "Hi! How are you?  I send you this file in order to have your advice  See you later. Thanks"  Assuming you have an anti-virus program, you are probably in no danger, just be careful opening files, however trusted the file sender may be!
Boom reports on his site that he got such an e-mail; I did too, and I have posted the warning on the NAB Forum.  Viruses like this spread too easily, but the person who sent you the e-mail is not trying to be nasty to you, he is just the previous victim, okay?
B-Ball has updated his site, including adding his own Csports banner and some general site improvements.  It looks as if yesterday's NAB play has not registered on their system yet - well, it is only a "public beta" at the moment!

Saturday July 28th, 2001:
Bad news from Florida - well, a slight delay, anyway.  "The main file for that map I was going to release seems to have corrupted on me", SLAM reports.  "I have a backup, but it's not as recent. I've lost some work. Most of it is still there though - what was messed up can be easily reconstructed."
Boom, on his site, tells us that his enjoyable and popular Swampy
series of beta maps "has decided to be cancelled", which seems a shame; he is continuing to work on that "Vacation" NAB story, and no doubt various new maps.  The credit for finding
CSports goes to Flame, who first added details about it to the Star Wars Clan clan page - no coincidence that he and Darth Animal both do rather well in the charts, then!
Joshman's Clan Destiny Dedicated Server seemed to be working better yesterday, and is now running a rota of his choice of new maps; I hope he will supply me with a list!  It is certainly great to have a choice of servers to join, again.

Friday July 27th, 2001:
SLAM tells me that "CD Base does not have my favor anymore.  It's possible I'll use some parts of it, but...it's just not making the cut with the kind of map quality I'm going for.  I might try another map like it again sometime... But it didn't turn out the way I meant it to."  So, it looks as if, at least for now, no finished, final version of that map will be published.  The existing beta is still available to Clan Destiny members; they need to get a password from SLAM himself to be able to download it.  It does have bad clipping, dodgy movers, and other problems, but some parts of it are great!  SLAM mentioned a new project, of course:  "I plan to post some news and even *gasp* screenshots of it within the next day or so", was all he would say!
As it happens, Joshman has also decided to put aside his current map, Tropical Chinatown; given a few good ideas he may return to it, otherwise, well, good experience!  He started a "Clan Destiny Dedicated Server" yesterday; the ping may not be quite good enough for it to continue with that title, but if he is able to keep it running with the old on-the-disc maps, that would be very useful for new players who don't have the latest new maps...
B-Ball is working far into the night on his Frantic Remix - and he has another project, about which I am sworn to secrecy!  Blades is starting his own clan, Pro Fighters - and Icedude sent me a rather cool-looking remix of Boom's HyperBlast Remix, complete with engine noise and a couple more goodies.  I am not sure if he is releasing it yet, however.
Some people were saying that this website is too narrow to fill their screens, so we have made some of our main pages wider.  At the moment, this extra width is mainly used to show the rota of maps that the www.NerfArena.com server has now been set to run through, when it is working, so if you are missing any of the 32 maps listed, this is a perfect time to add them to your collection!
The CSports people tell me "Regarding the default player name problem, we're aware of it and are hoping to come up with a solution that works for all games in the next few days" - so your days of glory are limited, Player1!  I see that the banners have been removed from the Star Wars Clan clan page, while the system is still on "public beta", but you can click through to the site from us, or from our Players page, down at the bottom.  This morning I'm ranked at #21, which can't be bad...

Thursday August 2nd, 2001:
SLAM seems to have been rather busy playing Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force "CTF" - but he is still working on NAB stuff, of course!  "I'm thinking of starting a new CD Base type map - only different", he told me this morning.  "Actually, I'm experimenting with some textures for it now."  He also told me  "And some more big news: Skippy has returned to NAB, and says he has a good many tricks up his sleeve."  But I knew that already, as he'd been playing with FeEdiKo, Dr.Jekyll, BlobBlob and me aboard the good ship (if that is what one should call it) HoverCraft last night...
Icedude mentions that he has now started working on a new arena: Circular Forts Stadium!  This is he says "a map designed as a mix of Fight Club (by CurtSquirt), Circular Forts (by Me), and Pokemon Stadium 2 (by Nintendo)" - so that can't be bad, right?
